“IF LOOKS COULD KILL”
HEART UPCYCLED PILLOW
NFS
HEART UPCYCLED PILLOW
NFS
If only this pillow could talk, it’s been in my possession before its pillowy existence. Hard to believe this was first a costume of mine for a ballet recital as a kid!
My mom found what appeared to be a bridesmaid’s dress from the 1950s, who knows what backstory went along with all of that purple and lace the day that was first worn? I’d imagine the bridal party would’ve gotten a kick out of my mom turning it into something I could slip on and off quickly between costumes.

I’d imagine the bridal party would’ve gotten a kick out of my mom turning it into something I could slip on and off quickly between costumes.
Fast forward from my elementary school year to college days where my mom decided it was time to starting getting rid of things I’ll never wear. Instead of throwing out that beautiful vintage lace, my mom decided to make a pillow for ME!
This was late 90s and I thought it was so cool to continue giving this costume life again. Over the years my mom has made other pillows, so I guess you could say making old things new definitely runs in the family!
Now it’s 2026, and as much as I love this pillow, I decided to breathe live into it AGAIN. This time I leaned heavily into an 80s theme with a Heart “If Looks Could Kill” shirt. I added more decorative stitching to go with the front and back graphics, made more tassels, and reformed the pillow to make it puffier.
This is a birthday gift for a friend of mine who not only loves Heart, but is an 80s fan, loves upcycled artwork, and also wore a lot of costumes for dance recitals when she was little!

“STRANGE DAYS MEETS SHABBY CHIC”
THE DOORS UPCYCLED PILLOW
commissioned for the holidays
I was floored when a gal pal of mine reached out to me about a Doors pillow. I was so excited to get this shirt, I immediately knew what I wanted to do with it. The orange patterned material that makes up the actual pillow is up-cycled from an old skirt. It may not give 1968 flower power, but it’s certainly giving something that I’m here for. Shabby chic, I s’ppose? The circles & half-moons were off of an overlay from a faded purple shirt (circa early 2000s), which I wasn’t sure about until the end. At the last minute I decided that since I couldn’t thrift the mini tassels I wanted, I’d have make my own. So I did, and it’s the perfect little touch. This was so much fun, I can’t wait to make another one for a gift!
“I KNOW IT’S ONLY A ROCK ‘N ROLL PILLOW BUT I LIKE IT”
MICK JAGGER UPCYCLED PILLOW
price available upon request
Here’s the one and only Mick Jagger on a pillow pointing, singing, and posing like the absolute icon that he still is! This image was from a shirt that someone literally gave me off of their back. I remember playing out one night and I complimented the guy’s shirt before I sang “Dead Flowers” to him. He was so moved that he took his shirt off (he was in layers so it wasn’t weird, FYI) and handed it to me. I figured that a photo should have a frame, and that’s why I hand stitched Mick on this random graphic pillow. Any Stones would love this!
“HI, BARBIE!”
BARBIE LOVES MAC UPCYCLED PILLOW
not for sale
I know I what you’re thinking- what does Barbie have to do with music?! While I don’t have to remind you that she made her music fame with “Barbie & The Rockers,” I will remind you that the Barbie movie soundtrack was ICONIC. I love movie soundtracks (future soundtrack discussion maybe??), I’ll occasionally whip out a couple of soundtrack tunes at a gig and you can always tell who loves the movie! This pillow was made out of three items- an old Barbie Loves MAC shirt from my cosmetic years, a black & grey machine made tie dyed shirt serving no purpose, and a border made out of an old houndstooth skirt. Not for sale, this one was gifted to someone special to go with their Barbie collection.
“SMELLS LIKE 1991”
NIRVANA UPCYCLED PILLOW
price available upon request
This pillow screams the early-mid 1990s to me, my tween/teen years! While you couldn’t get through that decade without discovering ground breaking grunge legends like Nirvana, it can’t be denied that we 90s kids also loved the 60s flower power vibe. The perfect pillow for a nostalgic xennial or any music nerd.
