Women's History Month

March is always a fun month, especially since it's Women's History Month. It's a great time for me to work more women musicians (and my own original music) into my sets. Last night at Nino's (Mt. Pleasant, PA) kicked off the month spectacularly. I played with my buddy, Cory "Gudio" Mickinak, a friend and former band mate. Years and years ago I wormed my way into his 3 piece psychedelic blues trio, eventually named Freepour. While Guido and I have musically moved on, we always try to play an acoustic show once a year together, usually themed around blues. This time we played all Bobbie Gentry, Patsy Cline, and The Cranberries (in honor of Women's History month).

It certainly isn't a Jane West and Guido gig without our performing our favorite blues tune, "Last Two Dollars." When Freepour was playing out, I remember taking a trip to St. Louis and hearing 2 different women singing this tune. I came back home, determined to work more blues into my sets. I told Guido about this song and we have been playing it ever since. I hope you enjoy hearing it as much as we enjoy performing it. Link is below.
